On the occasion of promoting awareness and breaking taboos surrounding menstruation, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Rasayani organized a seminar on Women Development on Menstrual Hygiene on 23rd August 2025 at the PHCASC Auditorium.
The session was conducted by Ms. Vinitha Rajendran, who addressed menstruation not just as a health issue but also as a matter of dignity, equality, and empowerment. She emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene during the menstrual cycle and highlighted the harmful consequences of poor menstrual practices.
The seminar was interactive and encouraged students to express their doubts and share their experiences. Several myths and misconceptions were addressed and clarified, creating a safe and open space for discussion.
To support the takeaways from the session, hygiene hampers sponsored by Whisper were distributed to all attendees. A total of 107 participants took part in the event, making it a successful awareness initiative.
The seminar was conducted with the aim of aligning with Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
