One Day National Conference on “Resource Management: A Catalyst for Development” on 26th September, 2015

Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a National Conference on “Resource Management – A Catalyst for Development” on 26th September, 2015. The objective of the Conference was to identify, understand, analyse and explore all the vital issues and concepts of ‘Resource Management’ in line with the contemporary practices in various disciplines. We received thirty research papers out of which a few were from other states.

Mr. Ajay Sawant, Vice President, HR, Reliance Industries Limited, Patalganga Unit, inaugurated the conference as a Key Note Speaker and Chief Guest for the session. Dr. Lata Menon, Principal, PHCASC, made the introductory remarks and Ms. Swati Mishra, the co-convener of the Conference briefed the gathering about rationale behind the conference.

As scheduled, the key note address was delivered by Mr. Ajay Sawant. He highlighted the current scenario where resources need to be utilized for the socio- economic development of the society.

The first Technical Session was chaired by Dr. Brijbala Suri (Principal, Pillai HOC College of Education and Research, Rasayani) who underscored the contemporary relevance of the topic-‘Resource Management’ and its pragmatic approaches. The session witnessed ten excellent presentations out of which the research paper titled “Building Vs Buying: A Paradigm Shift in Hiring” presented by Mr. Kiran Bade in association with Mrs. Poonam Singh, secured the ‘Best Paper Award’. It was followed by the timely and thought provoking talk by Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO & Chairman, Mahatma Education Society, which enthralled the multitude of delegates.

Dr. G. Rajalakshmi Nandagopal, Principal, Nirmala College, Malad, who chaired the second Technical Session, threw ample light on the challenges visible and the policies required for effective and efficient use of resources. The ‘Best Paper’ Award was given to Mr. Ketan Patil & Mrs. Divya Mesharam who elevated the ambience of the session with their research paper titled “Study of Seasonal Variations In Physico-Chemical Parameters of River Patalganga in Raigad District, Maharashtra”.

Dr. Gopal K. Kalkotti, Head, Dept. of Business Economics, Nagindas Khandwala College, Malad and Member, Board of Studies, Business Economics, University of Mumbai, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory session, whose inspiring speech encouraged the plethora of learners and turned the occasion a sublime one. Mr. Sujith Babu, convener of the Conference proposed a vote of thanks. It was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem which indicated the formal culmination of the One Day Conference.
