The Faculty of Arts and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an Alumni Guidance Session on January 16, 2026.

Resource Person: Mr. Akash Dhakite

An Alumni Guidance Session was organized for the students of the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Mass Communication (BAMMC) to provide them with practical insights into career opportunities in the field of content writing and digital media. The session featured an alumnus from the 2018–2021 batch of our college, who is currently working as a professional content writer.

The objective of the session was to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by allowing current students to interact with an alumnus who has successfully established a career in the media industry. The speaker shared his professional journey after graduating from the college and discussed the challenges and opportunities he encountered while entering the field of content writing.

During the session, the resource person explained the various career possibilities available in content writing, particularly in digital media. He highlighted his work in the e-sports niche, where he creates a variety of content such as blogs, social media posts, and other digital communication materials related to gaming and e-sports platforms. He also spoke about the growing demand for specialized content writers who can cater to niche audiences.

The speaker provided students with valuable guidance on developing essential skills required in the field, including research, creativity, writing clarity, SEO basics, and understanding audience engagement. He also emphasized the importance of staying updated with digital trends, building a strong portfolio, and gaining practical experience through internships and freelance projects.

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, where students asked questions about career paths, building a writing portfolio, freelancing opportunities, and working in niche industries like gaming and e-sports. The alumnus responded with practical tips and shared useful strategies for entering the industry.

The session proved to be highly informative and inspiring for 24 students, giving them a clearer understanding of how skills learned during the BAMMC program can be applied in real-world media careers. It also encouraged students to explore emerging digital fields and pursue their interests with confidence.
