Event Overview:
To commemorate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (globally observed on 9th August each year), the NSS Unit of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science, and Commerce (Autonomous), Rasayani, organized a special outreach program on 22nd August 2025. The initiative took the volunteers to a nearby Adivasi Pada (Ramwadi), with the aim of raising awareness about the cultural richness of indigenous communities and promoting inclusivity, empathy, and social responsibility among students.
Objectives of the Visit:
- To interact with the indigenous community and understand their way of life.
- To spread awareness on health, hygiene, and education.
- To distribute essential items and educational materials.
- To instill a sense of social responsibility and empathy among students.
Program Flow and Activities:
The visit began with a warm interaction between NSS volunteers and the local community, where students gained insights into the traditions, daily lifestyle, and cultural practices of the Adivasi families. Volunteers conducted awareness sessions on basic health and hygiene practices, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and preventive healthcare. Educational awareness was also emphasized, with discussions encouraging children to pursue learning opportunities.
As part of the outreach, essential items and educational materials were distributed to the community members. This gesture not only met immediate needs but also conveyed a message of solidarity and support. Volunteers further engaged the children through storytelling and interactive games, creating a joyful and memorable experience for them.
Role of NSS Volunteers:
