Although the need for interdisciplinary research appears to be contemporary, its importance is not new. Any real time scientific issue requires interdisciplinary / multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, instead of employing the tools of a particular discipline to decode a scientific problem, it is widely beneficial to have knowledge and expertise across various spheres of learning. Moreover, the multidisciplinary approach tackles the non linear nature of the scientific issues.

With the above theme, a One Day National Conference on “Recent Trends in Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences” was organised jointly by the departments of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in association with IQAC on 23rd November, 2019. The conference was organised in the conclave-1 of our college. The convener of this conference was Dr. Jayanta K. Behera, Co-ordinator of B.Sc. program. It was designed to cater to the demand for interdisciplinary/less adopted approach for fulfilling the contemporary scientific needs.

The chief guest of this conference was Dr. Sunil S. Patil who is currently the Director of Board of Students Development at University of Mumbai. He spoke on the various opportunities and initiatives started by University of Mumbai for the students and the faculty members in the field of research. The Keynote Speaker for this event was Dr. M. Vashitha, Head of F.E., Professor, PHCET, Rasayani. His spoke about Material Science and its applications to new source of Energy. The event was successfully concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vishakha B. Asst. Prof. Dept. of Chemistry.
