Quality Enhancement in Higher Education in India: An Introspection

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce (PHCASC), Rasayani, in collaboration with GURU ANGAD DEV TEACHING-LEARNING CENTRE OF MHRD (PMMMNMTT)- SGTB Khalsa College, Delhi University organised a National Webinar titled Quality Enhancement in Higher Education in India: An Introspection on 28 May 2021, as a part of the process of striving excellence in education.
Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for session I was Prof. A. K. Bakhshi who presented the topic of Empowering Teachers for 21st Century Challenges to Enhance Quality of Higher Education in India.
Guest of Honour and Speaker for Session II was Dr. Vimal Rarh who presented the topic on Preparing Teachers for Outcome based Higher Education.
IQAC of the institute organised a ‘Panel Discussion of Revised Accreditation Framework’ on 5th – 6th April, 2018 to get well versed with the changes by NAAC.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the institution organized a Workshop on ‘NAAC Guidance’ on 17th June, 2017 which was attended by IQAC Coordinators / Members of various colleges of the campus. Objective of the Workshop was to get clarity on the NAAC process for our impending NAAC visit in September 2017.
The IQAC team of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Faculty Development Workshop entitled “BEYOND TEACHING” on 05 March, 2018. The workshop was part of the Teachers Training initiative of the institution. The resource expert was Dr. Reni Francis from Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur, who was recently awarded with Honorary D-Lit by the University of South America. The aim of the workshop was to reinforce to the staff members, the importance of aligning all their activities towards achieving the Mission and Vision of our Institution. All faculty members from the departments of Arts, Science and Commerce, participated enthusiastically and had an interactive session with the expert speaker on how to enrich their routine duties beyond classroom teaching.
IQAC, in collaboration with Research and development cell of our Institute, initiated Faculty seminar series session wise. The first session was organized on 24th March, 2018. In the first session, selected Faculty members presented their research work, wherein, broad band of research areas were clearly evident. The research areas of faculty members were ranging from Space science to Nanotechnology, Big data Hadoop to Laws for surrogate mother and Gap year, a poem by Jackie-Kay to Magic realism.
