Kargil Vijay Divas, named after the success of operation Vijay on this day, 26th July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistan intruders. The kargil war was fought for more than 60 days, ended on 26 July and resulted in the loss of life on both sides, India and Pakistan. With the regain possessions of kargil, kargil Vijay diwas is celebrated on 26th July every year in honor of the kargil war’s heroes.
The NSS Unit of Pillai Hoc College of Arts, Science and Commerce College, celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas to mark the 20th anniversary of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war. The ‘Kargil Vijay Divas’ on July 26 is being celebrated In honour of the Army’s successful mission in a grand manner by the students and faculties of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The program started with floral tribute and candle march was paid to martyrs by all faculty members and NSS volunteers.The student of TYBAF Divya Badalkar dedicated a song for all the martyrs of our nation. A small documentary was shown to the students about Kargil War.Sayali Patil student of SYBMM had given speech and she in her speech quoted that “Today is the day to pay homage to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 60 day conflict between India and Pakistan to save the territorial integrity of the nation”. The event culminated with the recital of the National Anthem.
