Every year on 30th January our country celebrates “Martyrs Day” in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi and also to honour our brave martyrs who have laid down their lives for the country. In order to honour our martyrs and to remember our “Father of Nation”, the NSS Unit of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a prayer meet and conducted a parade at Mazgaon village. The Parade included the children of village and they were also told about the role of “Mahatma Gandhi in India’s freedom and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in different terrorist attacks such as “Kargil War” and “Handwara Attack”. The volunteers gave deep information to the children about Martyrs such as Kargil Hero “Cap Vikram Batra” and “Constable Tukaram Omble” of 26/11 attack. The children observed 2 minutes of silence in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for our motherland. They also sung patriotic songs with volunteers and the meet ended by singing the National Anthem.
